Toddler during antibiotic therapy: how to take care of him?

Children are bored not only in the rain, as they preach the words of a song popular years ago. For the most boring moments of life a few-year-old can certainly include those moments when he sits at home and cannot play with other children. It is also a huge creative challenge for his parents – watching fairy tales or reading books may not satisfy the toddler.
How do you take care of a few-year-old who takes an antibiotic so that he can recover sooner? How to take his time, what should he eat and is it worth giving him probiotics for children?

What to play

During antibiotic therapy your child needs more sleep and rest. However, he does not always feel like it and wants to party. What fun for children will be the best?
• Home theater. Preparing a performance in the theater – even at home – requires some time. Take advantage of favorable circumstances and organize a Broadway show. Invent a script, set design, props and puppets that will play the characters in the performance. You can also star in your own roles. Fun guaranteed!
• Dough. Instead of looking for dough in the store, find the recipe for homemade colored dough on the Internet and … get to work! The very preparation of it can be really addictive for a child, not to mention later making all the shapes that you want from it.
• Drawing, cutouts, cuts … So that all these activities are not boring, it is worth imposing a theme for each day. Tuesday – animals. Wednesday – space. Real works of art will arise!

Toddler’s diet

Your child’s body is now consuming a lot of energy. So let’s make sure that his menu includes dishes and snacks that support his body. The toddler should eat smaller portions, but more often. Also, give him products known for his natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, such as honey, onions, garlic, citrus and parsley. Also, make sure your child drinks a lot: teas, juices and plain low mineralized water are the most desirable.

After the antibiotic: probiotics for children

If your child is on an antibiotic, it’s worth giving her probiotics. For children and their delicate organisms, antibiotic therapy is an even greater burden than for adults: it fights off microorganisms, but at the same time sterilizes the intestinal bacterial microflora. A good probiotic for a child can support good bacteria in the intestines and accelerate their regeneration. What probiotic for child should I choose? Children who are already able to swallow tablets can be given capsules with a preparation containing a probiotic. Probiotics in drops will be better for the newborn and the baby.
